Cargill, Incorporated, established in 1865 by William Wallace Cargill in Conover, Iowa, began as a modest grain storage enterprise. Ownership of Cargill remains predominantly within the founding family, with the Cargill and MacMillan families collectively controlling approximately 88% of the company.
